Do stretch bracelets lose their stretch over time?
Cheap elastic does. Ours is industrial-strength, double-strung and pre-stretched before the beads go on, which means it rolls over your hand without going slack. The single biggest factor in how long any stretch bracelet lasts is how you put it on.
Elastic fails for two reasons: it was never pre-stretched, or it is repeatedly over-extended.
Un-stretched cord relaxes after the first few wears and never fully recovers, which is why a bracelet that fit on day one hangs loose by week three. Pre-stretching moves that relaxation to before the beads are strung, so what you receive is already at its working length. Double-stringing distributes load across two strands instead of one.
How you put it on matters more than most people expect. Rolling a bracelet over your hand keeps the cord within its intended range. Pulling it wide and stepping your hand through over-extends it every single time, and that is what eventually kills the elastic.
Elastic breakage from a manufacturing fault is covered by our warranty.
