Jewelry Guide
Can you wear jewelry to the gym?
With a bonded gold finish over stainless steel, yes — sweat, humidity and saunas will not affect it. Gold plated jewelry is a different matter: sweat is mildly acidic and accelerates the wear that exposes the base metal underneath.
Sweat is the problem, not exercise. It is slightly acidic and salty, which is exactly what degrades a thin gold coating and reacts with copper or brass beneath. This is why plated jewelry so often fails first on people who wear it while training.
A PVD-bonded finish has no coating to break down, and 316L steel does not react with salt or acid at the concentrations skin produces. Sweat, steam rooms and saunas are all fine.
The one thing worth thinking about is mechanical, not chemical. Heavy barbell work presses metal against a knurled bar, and sustained abrasion in one spot will mark any finish eventually. For lifting, moving a stack to your other wrist is enough.
Our stretch construction also matters here — no clasp to catch on equipment or work loose mid-session.
